Here’s something I think is neat…

  • Squirrels

Over the past couple years I have been really loving the squirrels that frequent my back yard. There is a group of 7 of them but this is my favorite. I have named it Uno because of the one ear. I know we aren’t really supposed to feed wildlife because it prevents them from gathering on their own and learning how to but I can’t help but throw them a walnut or a hazelnut. They’re just really amazing animals to watch scamper around. They are a lot smarter than people may realize. I used to say foxes were my favorite animal but squirrels might actually be the secret best. I just have a soft spot for “unloved” animals. For example, when I used to live in the city, I absolutely loved seeing pigeons. I still think pigeons are my favorite birds, though the closest we get to them where I am now are mourning doves. They’re cool, too.

Basically I just think animals are neat as heck.

  • Switch Tabletop Mode

Of course in this case I’m propping it up on my steering wheel while waiting for my kid to get out of school so i can pick them up (don’t worry, the car is parked!) but i love being able to prop it up so i can play with my arms down on my lap without having to bend my neck downward. It’s a feature that i never really use at home or anything but occasionally it just works out really well. Plus the split controls design of the joycon is pretty great. Reminds me of split controls on Wii. Killer feature if you ask me.

  • Desk junk

For people who either work at a desk or just have one at home for their personal use, I love just being able to have little things and toys that make me smile.
Pink is my favorite color so i have a pink axolotl fidget, a pink squid thing, and a little pink rubber duck. I also have a couple things from my son (the skylander and the Luigi because he’s a fan of both). Then there’s Princess Peach because she rules. The pen I got from my boss. It’s pretty uncomfortable to actually hold when using but it actually writes surprisingly smoothly. I highly recommend you find ways to put a little joy in your work zone.

  • Having a website

    Having a website

Having a website is pretty neat. I do admit that like ten years ago it was so much easier. Just throw some junk up on a cheap server and it’ll show up for no one to really read. Now there’s all this SEO stuff to worry about and all that and all the different things like AI generation and whosits and whatsits but I’m too old to really think of all that stuff. Plus I’m not worried about having a big following or whatever. I just wanted a place to share stuff that I like. So that’s what this is. So while the internet is a lot different than it was when I was first having random geocities websites or whatever, it’s still pretty neat to have a website. Just a place that you can put whatever and anyone around the world can see it provided they have the means. That’s pretty cool if you ask me.
